The greatest military leaders in history studied their opponent before ever entering the battlefield. They knew the weaknesses of their enemy as well as their strengths. Yet, as believers, how little we look at the battle that we are in the middle of every day! “How is that?” you may ask. The Lord warned us about the daily battle we would face, but it’s not the one you might imagine from a documentary or war drama. It’s a daily battle to choose to remain in Jesus’ strength and love. However, we must be equipped far more than just knowing we might have a difficult time facing temptation. We must know our enemy and the tactics he uses. We must know ourselves. We must know the battleground on which we fight—our fallen world.
