An imperative for the Christian life is the call to “persevere” in our faith. We are told again and again by the Lord and the apostles that the only faith is a persevering faith, one that remains firm through trials and temptations. This endurance is not easy, but it is a daily choice to continue to set our hope and our trust in Jesus, and it requires the right action and right attitude. Scriptures abound in the New Testament, urging believers to be patient, to long-suffer, to endure. For the sake of Christ we are to remain under difficulty, and to remain under difficulty with an abiding patience that can only be found through relationship with Jesus.
